Salmon Harvest - Photo

Salmon wait on ice to be transported to a facility in Bear Lake where they will be processed. Some of the salmon are also give to the Clinch Park Zoo to be feed to the different animals.

Traverse City, Mich. - 09/27/2005 - David Rose an employee with American Canadian Fisheries throws a Chinook salmon into a chute during the salmon harvest at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources James P. Price Trap and Transfer/Harvest Facility on the Boardman River in Traverse City Tuesday. The harvest started Tuesday morning and will go on for approximately four weeks. According to DNR records and Eric Askam an DNR employee, on the first day 1566 Chinook and 10 Coho salmon were harvested. Last year 7,765 Chinook and 1,432 Coho salmon where harvested at the facility during the season.
