Rabies tags wait for 53 dogs and 42 cats that have spent more then 90 hours in transit to Traverse City for the hurricane ravaged Louisiana.

Traverse City, Mich. - 09/14/2005 - Craig Brakeman, DVM, checks Emily a female cocker spaniel that is relocating to Michigan along with 94 other dogs and cats for the hurricane ravaged Louisiana. The animals were being brought to Michigan by the Pet Safe Rescue Alliance for relocation and adoption. The 53 dogs and 42 cats spent more then 90 grueling hours in transit to Traverse City with more then 75 stops to put ice under their cages and otherwise attended to their needs during the trip.
The cats and dogs were met by dozens of volunteers, including veterinarians from Banfield Pet Hospital, who vaccinated, licensed and tagged them and settled them in a cement-block barn that will serve as their temporary home.

Traverse City, Mich. - 09/14/2005 - Leslie Knopp and Amy Scoot wade to Knoop's sailboat that broke lose from its moorings and ended aground off Old Mission Peninsula near Bluff Road on the East Grade Traverse Bay just outside of Traverse City, Mich., Tuesday, September 13, 2005. Knopp said, "There seemed to be no damaged to the boat". Knoop believes that heavy winds may have created the minor accident. According to Andy Sullivan of The National Weather Service winds were 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph in the Traverse City area Tuesday.
