Foggy Morning - Photo



Traverse City, Mich. - 10/28/2005 - As the morning sun rises, cold air hits the warm water making fog rises off Bowers Harbor on Old Mission Peninsula after over night temperatures in the area plunged below the freezing mark early Friday morning. According to the National weather service temperatures will be higher over the weekend.

Helping Hand - Photo


Kalkaska, Mich. - 10/27/2005 - When Helen Hall heard victims of Hurricane Katrina needed help; she took on the challenge and started collecting soda cans and selling candy to raise money for the victims. Hall, 71, a resident of Kalkaska Memorial Health Center has been confined to a wheelchair since she suffered a stroke in 2001 before moving to the center.

Being A Judge - Photo


Traverse City, Mich. - 10/26/2005 - Lexie Slowik, 3, and her mother Jennifer Slowik take a few moments to judge some carved pumpkins at the Traverse Area District Library on Woodmere Avenue Wednesday. The 11 entries were carved and decorated by different departments in the library and are being judged by library patrons. The department the wins will be given a pizza party. Judging the "Works of Art" will continue through Friday.

Traverse City, Mich. - 10/24/2005 - With the fall harvest of grapes over at Chateau Grand Traverse Winery and Vineyard employees remove bird netting from the rows of grape plants. "We have more than 50,000 feet of the netting to remove," said Shean O'Keefe the vineyard manager. "In the past we have tried different forms of bird deterrence. It seems the netting works best."
